Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has declared his team ready for their crucial World Cup qualifier against Rwanda, emphasizing their focused preparations ahead of Friday’s match.
Facing a must-win situation with only three points from their first four games, the Super Eagles are determined to overcome Rwanda’s Amavubi and keep their 2026 World Cup qualification hopes alive. They face a tough challenge, playing in a country where they have never won, against a Rwandan side that has shown strong form in recent qualifiers.
During his pre-match press conference, Chelle acknowledged the difficulty of the task but expressed confidence in his team. “They have a new coach, they want to win and we also want to win. We are ready,” he stated.
Chelle stressed the importance of focusing on their own game and leveraging their strengths. “We must focus on our game, we have a great squad. We must work hard. What we do with the ball and off the ball will be important. We are focusing on our preparation and we will be ready.”
He revealed the team’s intensive preparations. “We have had a lot of meetings and training sessions. I have communicated my plans, and how we intend to achieve success.”
Chelle further emphasized the team’s singular focus on the upcoming match. “I just want to be with my players, I want my players to focus on this game and after that, we will see the other games. We need to win this game.”
The highly anticipated match between Nigeria and Rwanda is scheduled to kick off at 5 pm Nigerian time at the Amahoro Stadium in Kigali.
