Elio Capradossi again not named in Cranes Squad, Put explains why

The Italy-born defender burst onto the scene last year in June when Uganda hosted Botswana at Namboole Stadium in the same Qualifiers.

Uganda tactician, Paul Put unveiled his squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers in a press conference held on Monday in Mengo.

For the second time in a row, name of Cittadella defender Elio Capradossi wasn’t included in the roster as announced by the Cranes trainer.

Put, revealed that an injury setback has hindered the Italy-based player from representing his country on the International podium.

The 29-year-old was still not around when Uganda played the final group games of 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) Qualifiers against Congo and South Africa.

Similarly, former Vipers defender Halid Haliwa missed the invitation due to an injury, but a new set of replacements were lined up for the Mozambique, and Guinea matches.

Toby Sibbick (Wigan Athletic FC), Bevis Mugabi, and Rogers Torach complement the already existing faces that featured for Uganda at the last gathering in November.
