Cranes legend Onyango welcomes the FIFA Club World Cup trophy in Africa

The 2016 CAF African player of the year based in Africa had a chance to feel the global club World cup prize upon touch down in the land of 2010 FIFA World Cup hosts.

The FIFA Club World Cup making a tour in Africa had it’s first stop in South Africa, with Mamelodi Sundowns playing as maiden hosts for the new trophy.

The South African giants are one of participants from Africa that will be featuring at the newly expanded tournament (32 teams) this year in summer between 14 June- 13 July.

The Brazilians making their second appearance at Club World Cup finals, are in group F along 2024 UEFA Champions League runner-ups Borussia Dortmund, Fluminense FC of Brazil, and Ulsan HD of Korea.

After South Africa, the glittering trophy continues with its tour, with the next stop being Cairo, Egypt on Monday, before proceeding to Tunisia and Morocco where it will be welcomed by Esperance and Wydad AC respectively.
