Appointed in January, the former Uganda Cranes Tactician finally got off the mark at his new home in the Super D1.
Milutin Sredojević aka Micho finally recorded his first league win as a manager at Al-Merriekh in the Mauritanian League.
The victory arrived on his third attempt on touchline in the 3-0 victory over Kihedi at Sheikha Wold Bedia Stadium on Saturday.
Mohamed Tia Lion opened the scoring in the first half with other goals coming from Janard Kimbamba, and Ramadan Wonder on return to the battlefield.
After the final whistle, the Micho revealed the significance of the outcome as the club strives to revive it’s superiority in the division and Africa as a whole.
“The game was not easy in front of a team like Kihedi, especially with an expert coach like Doso, who has a lot of experience in the Mauritanian league, spanning seven years, and depends on a distinctive playing style.
“I believe that this victory is the first step towards regaining our status as one of the best clubs in Africa, but what’s more important for me is the high fighting spirit shown by the players today, and the great focus on giving their all for the slogan.”
Prior, the Serbian started his tenure at Al Merreikh with mixed results in the first two games in charge. A 2-1 defeat to leaders Nouadhibou on day one before the 1-1 all draw against Gendrim.
His next assignment in the league is a battle with Al Hilal SC who compete in this year’s CAF InterClub Competition, CAF Champions League, a tie he believes means a lot to fans and the clubs.
