Remo Stars have solidified their position at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table, extending their lead to a commanding 12 points with a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Plateau United on Sunday.
Samson Olasupo’s 74th-minute goal proved decisive, securing vital points for the Sky Blues in their pursuit of a historic first league title.
The victory, however, was far from easy as Plateau United who is battling relegation, put up a determined fight, forcing Remo Stars to dig deep for the win.

Speaking after the match, Remo Stars coach Daniel Ogunmodede commended his players’ resilience, acknowledging the challenges they faced.
“The lesser the games, the tougher it becomes,” Ogunmodede told Nairasports.
“I expected the game to be tough, considering the league positions of the teams coming to face us. Plateau United are a very good side, and they don’t want to be relegated, which was evident in their performance tonight.”
Ogunmodede also highlighted the impact of fatigue on his team’s performance.
“Fatigue is a considerable factor in our performance today, and that’s why I need to give big kudos to the players for fighting relentlessly. We have had two tough games in the past five days and have travelled for over 80 hours.”
Despite their comfortable lead at the top of the table, Ogunmodede emphasized the importance of maintaining focus and avoiding complacency.
“We cannot afford to be complacent,” he stated, stressing that his team is taking each game seriously.
The victory demonstrates Remo Stars’ determination and resilience, even amidst a demanding schedule, as they continue their quest for the NPFL title.
