CAF unveils new trophy for WAFCON

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) today unveiled a brand-new trophy for the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), marking a big step in its ongoing efforts to elevate women’s football across the continent.

The unveiling took place in Morocco, the host nation for the 2024 edition of the tournament, which kicks off this Saturday.

The new trophy is a key component of CAF President Dr. Patrice Motsepe’s strategic vision for the women’s game in Africa, focusing on growth, investment, and increased recognition.

The design and symbolism of the trophy were made public during the official launch, which included an initial digital reveal across CAF’s official platforms in the afternoon, followed by a formal activation event in collaboration with title sponsor, TotalEnergies, in the evening.

Fans across Africa and beyond were able to follow the trophy reveal live via CAF’s social media channels.

“This is a significant moment for women’s football in Africa. The new WAFCON trophy represents the growing status and importance of the women’s game on the continent,” CAF stated.

The TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2024 is set to commence on Saturday, July 5, 2025, at the Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
