CAF postpones CHAN 2024 to a new date

In a big announcement, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) have dropped a huge update about status quo of the African Nations Championship (CHAN)

The latest development from the continental football custodians is about the postponement of the 2024 Total Energies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN).

Originally scheduled for February 1- 28, the tournament that features home based players has been pushed to August, 2025.

“Good progress has been made in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda with the construction and upgrading of stadiums, training fields, hotels, hospitals and other infrastructure and facilities for the hosting of a successful TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024

However the CAF Technical and Infrastructure experts some of whom have been based in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda, have advised CAF that more time is required to ensure that the infrastructure and facilities, are at the levels, necessary for hosting a successful TotalEnergies African Nations Championship (“CHAN”) Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda 2024.”

Meanwhile, the draw of the eighth edition will go on as earlier planned with communication on the start date for August expected to come in the next days.

Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania are the hosts for the continental showpiece that was initially arranged to unfold next month.
