Boniface responds with a goal after failed move to Saudi

After a week of the transfer saga to the Middle East, the Nigerian International made his first start for the German giants in three months.

On return from injury, Victor Boniface was handed 45 minutes by head coach Xabi Alonso in Bayer Leverkusen 3-1 victory over Hoffenheim on Sunday.

The 24-year-old opened the scoring 15 minutes into the game, his 7th goal in the Bundesliga this season.

The other two goals came from Jeremie Frimpong, and substitute Patrik Schick in the 19th and 51st minute respectively.

Another Nigerian was on the scoresheet, Gift Orban off the bench to net the only consolation for the visitors.

The win keeps keeps Leverkusen title hopes for a silverware alive. Currently they are six points below log leaders, Bayern Munchen who have amassed 51 points after 20 games.
