Bayelsa Queens player Vera Samuel is hitting her stride at the perfect moment, scoring her second goal of the season in a 3-0 victory against Adamawa Queens on Wednesday.

The Prosperity Girls’ win was sealed with additional goals from Cynthia Mega and Rose Ekong, leaving Samuel beaming with delight.

“I feel great and happy contributing to my team’s success, securing three points and also scoring,” she said.

Samuel’s goal-scoring form is not driven by a desire to win individual accolades, but rather a passion to be an integral part of the team.

She said, “To be honest, my intention isn’t to compete for the highest goal scorer award. It happens that I’ve been opportune to score. I just want to be an important part of the team. I want my presence in and off the pitch to be felt.”

This marks Samuel’s second consecutive goal, following her strike in the 5-1 win against Benue Queens in Lafia. When asked about her secret to success, Samuel credited her faith and dedication to training.

She said, “My plans remain the same – contributing to my team’s success, securing points for the club. My secret is God and training.”

Samuel’s experience playing for Edo Queens in the 2024 CAF Women’s Champions League in Morocco is paying dividends, with two goals in four games for Bayelsa Queens.

As the season progresses, Samuel’s goal-scoring form will be crucial in driving the Prosperity Girls’ success.
