Another defeat on the road as Villa stumble in Bombo

The blues search for a win away from home extended further after another disappointing outing on the road.

Hosts UPDF FC beat reigning champions SC Villa 2-0 on match day 18 of the Startimes Uganda Premier League on Sunday.

Coming in Bombo, the Jogoos were 5-0 emphatic victors in the reverse fixture staged in Wankulukuku in November

The victory was a sweet revenge attained by soldier boys who registered their second consecutive win in the league.

Daniel Kitara opened the scoring in the 13th minute, his first goal in the 2024/25 campaign. At halftime, UPDF had 1-0 a lead.

Villa in pursuit of an equalizer, Brian Kalumba came off the bench and made it 2-0 in the 77th minute, ending hopes for any potential comeback.

The result saw UPDF elevate to the ninth place on the log, 24 points amassed, level with Villa but separated by the goal difference.

Elsewhere, Maroons FC shared spoils with travelers KCCA in a goalless draw witnessed at Luzira Prison Grounds on the same day.

Round 18 comes to climax on Monday as Express FC host the Purple sharks of Wakiso Giants under the floodlights at Hamz Stadium, Nakivubo.
