The All Stars Football Club Abeokuta has lauded Ogun State Sports Commissioner Hon. Wasiu Isiaka for his visionary initiative at turning the fortunes of the State darling team Gateway United around as the team gear up for the upcoming Nigeria National League’s season(2024/2025)
The much awaited Nigeria’s second-tier football league is expected to kick off accross the country before the end of the year
In a statement by the President,All Stars Football Club Abeokuta,Alh. Waheed Adeoye Lawal which was released to Newsmen,he commended the Commissioner’s leadership sagacity in appointing Eggheads in football hegemony in the land to thinker with the newly introduced “Team B” initiative for Gateway United
Lawal praised the commissioner for having a listening ear for advises that that could bring about the much needed push to lift Gateway United out of relegation waters
In an earlier Press Release signed by Gateway United FC’s Image Maker,Moses Ojewunmi,which read in parts “In a strategic move to foster youth development and empower football talents across Ogun State ,Gateway United FC is set to extend its Preseason activities to every zone of the State through a series of friendly games with selected players from open trials”
The trials have since gone round the four zones,for which the final screening exercise is scheduled to place between Tuesday November 19th and Wednesday November 20th,at the Dipo Dina Int’l Stadium,Ijebu Ode where the 28 shortlisted players will justle for the final selections
The Chairman of the preseason Committee Abiodun Odejimi who is Vice President of all Stars FC Abeokuta revealed that the trails have brought out exceptional talents.Other members of the screening committee also include Coach Biodun Kalejaye and football Head Coach at the State Sports Council,Akeem Daranijo who are both Elderly members of the State Federation’s cup 2018 Champions
Gateway United will compete in Group A of the abridged NNL 2024/2025 season alongside clubs like Sporting Lagos,Osun United Madiba FC and Godswill Akpabio FC.
