Ikorodu City FC, newly promoted, defeated Shooting Stars of Ibadan 2-1 in the southwest derby on match day 12 of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
The Oluyole warriors took the lead in the 16th minute with a brilliant finish from Antony Okachi. Though Ikorodu City FC sought to equalize before halftime, Shooting Stars maintained a strong defense.
In the 58th minute, Shola Adelani leveled the score for the Oga Boys. Ikorodu City continued to apply pressure on the Shooting Stars defense in an effort to alter the scoreline.
Rivio scored in the 88th minute to give Ikorodu City FC a lead, finishing well as a former Sporting Lagos player. Ikorodu City secured their first three points in the southwest derby of the Nigeria Premier Football League.
Having won four of their last five matches, Ikorodu City FC now sits 8th in the standings with 17 points. They will travel to Minna to face Niger Tornadoes in match day 13 this coming Saturday.
