The Ogun State chapter of Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) has congratulated Hon. Bukola Olopade on his appointment as Director General (DG) of the National Sports Commission (NSC).
Hon. Olopade, a former commissioner for Youth and Sports in the Gateway state was announced as the NSC’s DG on Thursday by President Bola Tinubu.
Chairman Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State chapter, Mr. Michael-Azeez Ogunsiji described the appointment as a perfect fit, adding that the President has inserted a round peg in a round hole.
Ogunsiji described the new NSC Director-General as a Pathfinder who has continued to blaze a trail in every facet of human endeavors.
“On behalf of everyone at SWAN Ogun State, I congratulate our leader, Hon. Olopade on this appointment, it is a testament that the Presidency is intentional about changing the face of the Sports sector.
“Hon. Olopade is a trusted sports technocrat who is vast, knowledgeable, experienced, and connected, I have no doubt that his appointment, working alongside Mallam Shehu Dikko will transform the Nigerian sports sector for good.”.
Hon. Olopade is the Managing Director of foremost Sports Marketing company, Nilayo Sports Management Limited (NSML), owners of the Gold Labeled Access Bank Lagos City Marathon, Abeokuta 10km Race, Ijebu Heritage Half Marathon, and the Remo Ultra Race among others.
He is also the Chairman, Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the forthcoming National Sports Festival tagged Gateway Games 2024.
